I'm wondering what paint I should use on the enclosure I'm about to build?

Child-safe paint. If you go to Lowe's, H-D, etc. and ask for paints that emit low fumes etc (even those that resist crayon marks), they should help you.

Always wait a few days before introducing the animal, to make sure all fumes go away. Also, make sure the paint will stand up to the heat and humidity of the enclosure.

Time is not a problem, I have plenty of time to let the paint dry/cure/etc.. Thanks for your help..

Paint usually doesn't hold up well in an iguana enclosure. You'll have to redo it within a year, from it deteriorating from the high heat, humidity, and iguana's claws. Look for Glaze Coat at the hardware store - it's a pour-on epoxy coating. It's more expensive than paint (a 1-pint kit costs $16), but it is money well spent. It dries rock-hard and is practically indestructible. If you want color, just use a water-based stain before applying the epoxy.

Good luck!
