Infection?

phiber_optikx May 18, 2006 05:06 AM

I know she is not a corn, but you guys are all so helpfull! I realise she has an infection, but am trying to figure out what kind and how to take care of it. I considered that it could be a tumor but it has gone down in size considerably since I got her. Then I thought maybe a tick/mite got under her scale and caused an infection. But she has shed since then. Any ideas about what it is and what I should do about it? She is going to the vet before too long but wanted your opinions.

It is not possible to answer your question. I can think of at least a dozen different things that it could be. (Abcess, fat deposits, benign fatty tumor, malignant tumor, fluid filled cyst, fluid in the pericardium, broken ribs, other physical trauma,... etc) Some serious, some not at all. Take it to a vet for an aspiration, microscopy, and culture. Thats the only way to know anything.

there are so many things that it could be. Without being there to feel the snake, we can't tell. To me, there are no signs of any scratches or cuts, so it has to be internal. Let us know what the vet has to say.
