DBT puffing his throat ?

GuanYinsTears May 18, 2006 09:34 AM

Hello everyone, I used to come on here years ago and usually got some good feedback so, here I am again. I adopted a wild caught DBT about the size of a quarter a few months ago after he was taken from the Jersey shore and dropped at a friend's pet shop. Anyway, let me get to it. I never noticed until the past few days that he's randomly doing this thing when I walk up to his tank where it looks like his neck is puffed up. He only does it when in the water with hi head out. My guesses where either a way of taking in air or what I thought more likely, a type of defense. I haven't been able to find this on any care sheets so, I figured I'd ask. Thank so much for all of your time and hlep. Be well and happy always

Sounds like he is just breathing. As long as he is not open his mouth and gasp for air then it is probably nothing more than that.

sounds alot like breathing, and i would be shocked if it was a defense mechanism.
