Ceylonese Pics, dialup beware!!!

JLExotics May 18, 2006 01:27 PM

Well I decided to get some new pics of the pair. I also figured I'd throw some more info out there and sort of set some things straight. I do say they are calm and never bite (unless in feeding mode). I do however know their personallities and how they will typically react. For example, when I go to take them out sometimes they female will do this thing with her tongue and I know she may try and bite (something consistant with feeding). If I hesitate then she may try and get me. I just reach in and pull her out. She will often times try and get me away by throwing her coils at me. These animals sure know how to hiss and it's pretty loud to! Once out I've never had a problem but inside her cage can get interesting. Still I treat them pretty much like I would treat a burm. Seems like I fall in love with them more and more everyday!!! Anyways here are the pics:

The male didn't want to sit still or move slow so I only have 2 new pics of him:

Now the female was easy to work with:

This shot kind of shows their true color. They have a caramel ontop and silver sides:

Hi TC,

All pure ceylonese have that pinkish tinge on their heads. That is not to say that all ceylonese with pink on their heads are 100% pure. (no implication by this John, I feel yours are indeed pure)

Sorry, I forgot to put a little info with the picture.

The female pictured is an 05 holdback that is right at the 6 foot mark right now. Out of my five 2005 female holdbacks she has been the best eater by leaps and bounds and she has sisters and other 05 females that are unrelated to her that are 4 foot, 4 1/2 foot and 5 foot. Her growth drastically slowed to a crawl like molasses in winter time when she hit 5 1/2 foot last Feb. I don't expect her to top 8 foot ever. Her lineage is very small, her mother only about 7 foot at 8 years old.

I'm not actually 100% sure they are unrelated. I really have no way of knowing. I do know they date back to a w.c. pair and are the 3rd or 4th generation (don't remember which). They never want to stop eatting! I fed them a 2lb pig a week ago and they are already crawling all over their cages looking for more. I do hope the female gets to atleast the 8ft range but again I have no way of knowing that either. The male is much smaller then she is and I'm positive he won't be getting as large.
