During the summer you keep the lights on for about 12-14 hours. Some people do more some do less. Then in the winter you cut down the hours of light. Some people put their florecent lights on seperate timers and keep them on an hour or two longer then the heat lights.

In the summer, I keep the lights on from about 7 am to 9 pm - 14 hours. In the winter, the lights come on around 8 and go off around 8 pm - 12 hours. It's really up to you what hours you choose to keep. Getting a timer is a good thing. Beardies are creatures of habit and having a regular light/heat schedule will greatly decrease their stress level.
