Breeding question

johnbort2 May 18, 2006 05:22 PM

Put my new Nelson's Milks together for the first time today. They have both eaten, so hopefully they won't try to eat each other. My question is, should I leave them unattended or how long do I keep an eye on them. They are going through the motions of crawling around together now and then, but the male freakes out every now and then and takes off real fast. With my boas and colubrids i just keep them together and separate them every few days. I assume I shouldn't do that with these. Thanks in advance.

There fine together, keep them seperate only when feeding and make sure you give them a little time for the feeding responce to where off.

milksnakes are colubrids. And nelson shouldn't give you a problem with canibalism. I used to keep all my milks housed in pairs. Now I don't but they still stay together for breeding.

Thanks for the responses. I am just a worrier sometimes. I went out to the shop this morning and they were both there...no problems. I will just make sure to separate for feeding. I did see what I think are sperm plugs, so that is a good sign.
