SimplyRed May 18, 2006 11:53 PM

I have tried to email this person via the forums because I have a question regarding his rack, but no reply! http://forums.kingsnake.com/viewarch.php?id=1052876,1052876&key=2006 anyone know how to get ahold of this guy? Also if you know this type of rack and can help me with heating (which I do not see in any of those pics) please email me or post here. Thanks very much!

He's away from his computer about 90% of the time at the moment, so thats probably why you haven't been able to get a response via email. The way he has it heated is he has individually wired 11" flexwatt heat on each level. Last time I asked about it he said its working great. I have the same shelf built in my snake room and I have back heat running rather then individual level heat (Its in a heated room) I also have a neonate rack made from smaller shelving with back heat, and both work great but I highly suggest covering the backs and sides of any shelves with reflectix with either heating type (especially if you go with back)

Here is a pic of mine before the heat tape was attached (you can see the reflectix along the back)

Thanks. Do you have any pictures of the actual flexxwat and Im not sure how you mean "individually wired"..... If they arent attached to each other in a row do you need more than one thermostat or something?

I don't have any images of his set up with the flexwatt, (not sure if he stuck with individually wired levels which would require a multitap for all of the plugs, or if he ended up fishing it back and forth like an S level to level). If I see him later I will inform him on the post so hopefully he can share what he did. If you do go with individual pieces you can either run them on multiple thermostats or use a multitap plugged into a single thermostat (as long as the wattage isn't higher then what the thermostat is rated for)
