Curly Tailed Bearded Dragon

dragonfliz79 May 19, 2006 07:45 AM

I saw an ad where a guy was selling a bearded dragon curly tailed as an exotic specis but isn't the dragon suffering from a bone disease and a calcium def. not that is some rare breed he has. Or is there curly tailed BD's? He was selling it for $250. I never heard of such a thing.

I am really curious about this one as well...I have never heard of that

Never heard of any morph or species of bearded dragon called a 'Curly Tailed'. I wouldn't buy it unless I see pictures. bearded dragons will normally curl their tails when actively hunting or exploring (this is a gently curve, not a tight curl like a chameleon, more like a normal bracket turned 90 degrees).

I would be more inclined to suspect it is just a genetic mutation due to inbreeding or defect in the egg itself. A picture will show just what degree of 'curling' it has, if it's just normal bearded dragon behaviour type of curl, or something deformed.

i have seen a "curly tailed" dragon in a local pet store, as a "show" animal only, and not for sale. this could happen from many different things, genetic defects as inbreeding, incubation temps that were too high or too low, or even temps that kept going up and down. never heard of them being worth much money like they say in that add.

I haven't seen the pictures, but it is common when temps are too high during incubation for curled tails and kinked backs to show up.
