That's a scam to get you to cash a fake money order. They will send you a counterfiet money order for way over the amount then ask you to cash it and send them a real money transfer for part of the over amount.
The best thing to do is tell them you don't want money and would rather trade for a log splitter or a chainsaw or a pasta carousel.

I know it's a scam, but it is still funny, even if it wasn't Mel Gibson. My email boxes get bombed by stuff like this often but this is the first snake one Tom Stevens

I get a lot of crap e-mails from Africa and they always just refer to me as "cochran",I think whoever it is uses this forum to contact people. The reason I say this is because this forum is the only place I go by the name of cochran.I have cicked on my e-mails before thinking I have a message from someone on here. jeff

I'm pretty sure they get it from the classifieds here. If I don't post anything for sale I stop getting them. I haven't done it but I think you can set your acount so that only registered KS users can reply to messages. I wonder if that stops them though. Has anyone tried this?

Hey Tom..

I know that you know it's a scam.. From the poor grammer and mispelled words it looks like the same guy who contacted me a few weeks ago.. I think i may have sent the email to you??

My scammer wanted to send his courier to my house with a money order for $2000 for an animal i was selling for $125 and asked if i would give the change to his courier??

I guess this silly scam must work on someone but it is not very well orginized and his poor english and writing skills are easy to spot..

Talk to you soon.. ~ Mike

These people can be so stupid.

Here is an interesting site that shows how to beat these people at their own game.

I've started stringing these guys along for fun. I have a collection of checks that they have sent me for various critters. If they were all real, I'd have over $50,000.00 in the bank. Usually you have to talk to them on the phone once or twice before they send you the check, but that's kind of fun too. None of them speaks English worth a darn, so I keep asking them to repeat themselves 4 or 5 times. This will hopefully run up their international calling fees and maybe beat them back a little.
