Cresteds shed every two days

defaced May 19, 2006 05:09 PM

This seems a little odd to me. I've got two crested geckos, one is 6 grams, the other is 7 grams. They have been at this weight for the past month which seems odd, but even weirder is that they have started to shed very frequently over the past week or so. Every other day their colors fade like they're going to shed, then the next morning they look vibrant again. I've seen them in varoius stages of sheding so I'm sure that's what they're doing. In my experience geckos shed when their weight change and that's not the case with these guys. Any thoughts?

Hi there,

Cresteds usually go through color changes from day to night. Often during the day it *looks* like they are in shed, but they are not.
They change color based on lighting, temp, humidity, stress, time of day, mood etc....

Usually they are at their brightest, "fired up" colors at night.

Hope that helps,
