The largest I ever feed (to some big!) bloods is a jumbo rat, and that's only occasionally. The vast majority of mine eat medium/large rats, and mostly mediums at that.

Feeding bloods huge meals just isn't necessary. Cranking a lot of food through an animal with a slow metabolism is a waste of food, IMO, and being too fat is unhealthy, regardless of species.

Hey K,
I agree with you on that and can't over emphasize the many times that I have found my guys regurgitated portions of food, when larger jumbos have been fed. I now only feed med-large rats to my adults and have not experienced any regurges as a result.

Angel and Kara,
In regards to "medium - large" rats, what is an average gram weight for that size rat?
Just curious,
Scott
