swollen eye

jeune18 May 20, 2006 12:08 PM

my poor little stew has a swollen eye. i know he needs to go to the vet, however, i can't go until tuesday. there are no cuts, it sort of looks like someone punched him in the eye minus bruising. it makes his eyeball look really small since the skin is closing in around it and when his eye is open, his eyelid doesn't open up all the way, it's too puffy. i tried to listen to his breathing and didn't hear any popping. there isn't any goo coming out of it. when he has his eyes open, he doesn't keep that one closed or anything. i touched the top of his eye and he didn't wiggle in pain.

anyone have any ideas or know of anything i can do for him until i get to the vet?

Poor Little stew! Maybe he just shook his head into a wall or something. I have seen Mosca do such handy things before and always wondered how he avoided bruises.

Since they are cold blooded, applying ice to it probably isn't a great idea, so as long as there is no goo, and he doesn't panic in pain when you touch it, I can't think of much to do other than wait until Tuesday.

Hang in there!
