bedding- shredded newspaper?

I've not worked with shredded paper, but I don't see dust as a problem. As for the ink, If the paper were to get wet and the snake allowed to lay in it for a time then yes it could stain, but it isn't harmful I don't think.

I believe newspaper ink is made of soy, so no problem.

Yeah every site I looked at said newspaper and paper towels are fine. It doesn't look very natural but its easy, cheap and replaceable.
