Ball Python feeding question

boz8883 May 20, 2006 11:12 PM

I have a young, small ball python. He just broke 100g. He's about 20 inches. I've been feeding him fuzzies. Should he be bumped up to adults?

Just curious about your opinions

small adults should be fine

Yeah, mine is about the same size and he almost eats a full-size adult. I don't mean to stress your snake, but snakes in general can eat REALLY large prey. Usually something at least 3 times as big as their head. I saw video on the internet where a snake with a head the size of a pingpong ball ate an egg the size of a softball.

Ok. I'll give it a try. See how he handles it. He's due to eat a fuzzie tomorrow. So I think I'll wait a few days then give him an adult and see what happens. Thanks for the input everyone

I start mine off with small adults. On my latest baby girls 4th meal she ate a normal sized adult. They're pretty good at eating. Absolutely amazing.

easiest way to figure out is just try a small adult. just make sure to pay attention to it. if he doesnt eat it then maybe he's not iterested, i've had snakes only want smaller prey but if he's feeling saucy he might take a bite if not oh well it isn't like its a mass amount of funding spent on a mouse.
