Hey Guys,
I am working on Fires but they are very hard, it seems they are very variable and trying to nail down definate traits isnt easy...
Heres a male "Fire" that i brought in and i keep going back and forth - keep or sell =)

Jon, here are my two females, one is the Ember, one is the Mojave cross female. I think they will both end up being Fires, but who knows. The Ember female has been possitively identified as a Fire by a few people in the know, but I will prove it out one way or the other next year.
Pics are Mojave cross female, Ember female, Mojave cross female again.

A few more pics, all are the original Ember adult female. Last pic is her gravid last year prior to laying the EmberBall eggs.
Dave

Hey,
From what i know so far , i would have to agree and say those are fires, but like i said Fires are a tough one, once you produce Black Eyed Lucys then it would be a lot easier to nail it down. Wilbanks and the ones i see come in from overseas often have different head markings which makes it somewhat confusing...

Here are the Ember Babies, the head pattern, the brown or peach sides, the high yellow dorsal coloring, and the speckles in the brown or peach sides are what I look for. Fires and Embers are identical in those respects. Ember Babies.

I think they are and hopefully you will prove me correct this year! Good luck with those...

On your male, the one thing that stands out to me, that is identical to my Ember adult female, is the way the darker color gets darker down by the tail. My Ember female gets darker down towards the bottom quarter of her body, maybe even the bottom fifth of her body. Your male looks to do the same. Check this pic for what I mean.

Yeah i see what you are talking about, maybe i will keep him...

Jon, money talks. If someone was to offer you $9K for that snake, if I were you, I would be really tempted. That being said, I might breed him, and see what happens and then sell him. Of course, you could always sell him and buy an Ember from me later on
Hi Dave I just LOVE the look of your baby embers man.I have no doubt that they will prove out for you and I wish you luck with the project man

Thanks man, I am glad you like them. They have definately made Ball breeding fun for me, especially after 2 years of dissapointments. This pair is my Het Green Ghost pair, that has a Labyrinth look to them, but have not been able to hatch any babies yet, kind of bummin me out.
Dave

Hi Jon I was wondering what your take on this male being a yellow belly??.Some say yes and some say no.To me it looks CLOSE but not enough. One of those normals that will need some dinking I think lol.

Hi,
I would have to say no, but it is one of those that is very close... I would definately breed and see =)

You guys are forgetting eye color.I think that is also a marker does yours have silver blue band in eyes?
Mike

Went and looked at one of the baby embers, and he has dark colored eyes, light silver on top, with a small line down the middle vertically.
yep gotta have silver blu stripe sounds like a match.
Cool dave how's your other projects
Mike

Mike, both of my unusual females are gravid, Mojave cross was mated with a Ghost, and the Ember was mated with a Pastel. I am hoping I get eggs from both. My Tangerine x Concrete project looks promising. The female Tangerine is getting ready for a pre lay shed right now. I have a few females that should be laying soon, Axanthics, YB's, Pastels and Ghosts. Nothing too exciting, but I am still at the stage where ANY healthy Ball that I hatch is exciting. The Axanthics that I have are from the SK line, and I think will prove out to be a genetic banded line of Axanthics. I will know more this year, but last year, the two babies were banded, from banded parents.
Dave
Stick with the 'lemon back hypo'...that way it's worth more! LOL...j/k, great animal!!!
