The trio of Desert Iguanas I have has been here at my house now for almost a month. During the first week the male was desperately trying to breed with the girls. Now, the breeding has slowed, and their appetites increased for about 2 weeks. Recently, I Have noticed that both females, one inparticular, have distended bellies. The smallest female is even fatter than the male, she has a big belly. Their bellies are lumpy, but I don't know how to tell if they are eggs or just some food and poo in their stomachs. I have nesting sites avaliable in the cage, mostly moist sand that is about 10 inches deep.
My main question is, how do I know that they are gravid and not just full of food?
Thanks guys.
Phil
