A little breeding help

jasonw May 21, 2006 02:59 PM

Howdy everyone long time no post LOL Anyway if you remember my female was bred to young and laid one egg in Jan. I am trying to get them to breed now as they are of size now and every time I put them together my male gets very excited rattling his tail and licking the females tail and when he trys to go at it she fights him off every time. Any ideas on why she fights him off or why he is not more persistant. The first tiem she fights him off every time he just gives up.

Honestly, she has just been through the stress of being bred too young.... She is fighting him off because she is not ready to breed... You should not attempt breeding until next season for the sake of your female.... She may be up in weight, but she just layed an egg 4 months ago at too young of an age....

Whats the rush to breed her???

I guess I should have been more clear. She was of age when this happened but under weight. If you think she is fighting him off do to the stress of her last egg than I will take your advice and wait untill next season. Thanks a million

Its not important why she is fighting him off.... For whatever reason, she is not ready or willing to breed.... Like I said, whats the rush??? I know how it is, wanting to brred an animal you have... I got a hypo male Mack snow two months ago.... I wanted to put him in with the females as soon as he got here but we all know you need to wait 90 days before you introduce a new animal into your collection....

Just be cool.... Things will fall into place when your female is ready to go....
