Sighthunter May 21, 2006 04:06 PM

Found a 74 inch Black Rat Snake on the road in front of my house SQUASHED. Five and a half footers are common found three over a three day period but anything over six feet is much harder to find. Got pics, will post um if someone wants to see. Real Black one.

Yea right in my front yard! I had released a 86 incher about 5 years ago but know where to look. This one is very black between the scales.

OUCH!! Just seeing the picture hurts. Oh well, we still found some awesome critters. 74" is about the size of the largest Texas rat I've found. Thanks for posting.

Bummer man, Would of been nice, I have seen some huge rats in my life time, This year Ive found about 20 or 30 rats, most in the 4-6 1/2 foot range, Last year, I watched one get hit, and I sware he went over 7.. Looked more like a gray rat though, possibly an intergrade from where I live.

I live in the Mineral Wells/Parkersburg, WV. area. I remove snakes from people`s yards, barns etc.. In this area I have seen many 6ft. plus black rats. I have seen a 6 and half foot female plus a male scretch completely across a dirt road. He was a good 7 feet at the least. I wish I would have measured him now because I actually believe he was close to a black snake record. They grow really huge in this area fo some reason.
