It is always nice to catch snakes, (alterna especially), but I had some other business to tend to over the weekend. I stayed at the Outback Oasis is Sanderson this weekend. High temps were 102 degrees. Lows were in the 70's. The weather was very nice, but not for snakes. I not only saw zero snakes, but zero road kills as well. Nothing, nada, zip! This did not bother me because believe it or not, snakes weren't the main reason for this trip. I went out to look at some property I'm thinking about buying, and second, I went out to find a good location to erect a marker in memory of my friend and fellow herper Keith Armstrong (John Keith Armstrong)who passed away suddenly, 3 years ago. His wife will be coming out in July as we will have a ceremony and spreading of his ashes at this very spot. Those of you who collect West of Langtry will see this marker when you go out. It is exactly 3.7 miles West of Langtry. Eric Timaeus has a marker for his father that is caddy corner on the cut across 90, only 1/10 of a mile from this one. His wife Debra wanted to spread his ashes on the rock cut in which he caught his ONLY Alterna back in the 1990's, back when EVERYONE was collecting (4-5 cars per rock cut as far as one could see) I was glad to get this marker made for his wife and for you all who knew Keith, think about him when you see his marker out West. He truly loved it out there as all of us do. Enjoy the pictures.
