I discovered that my 4 year old cal king that I thought was female is actually a male. I put him with a known female while I was cleaning his cage. I was watching closely as I was concerned about cannibalism. I noticed mating behavior then actual mating.
Now I know that what I thought was courting between him and my other male cal king was really combat. Oh well live and learn.
