Hibernation In Captivity

Hi Guys

Just a quick question about Desert Iguanas hibernation patterns in captivity. I read somewhere that they need to hibernate. But is this detremental to their health? Do they need to hibernate/brumate in captivity? If so, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
