If you want a 'true' giant, I think the Burmese are the best. For something a little smaller, maybe a Dumerils or a Red tail. I have lots of experience with both. my husband prefers RTs and anacondas (not gentle) and I prefer Burmese and Dumerils.

Snakes are usually what their keepers make of them. Usually of the giants burms are said to be tame but I have encounterd a few nasty ones. I raise retics and once you understand retic behavior they can be very docile once out of the cage. My tamest snake by far of my 34 constirctors is a male green anaconda. It is one of Kelly Haller's CBB greens but they are a very special line of green anacondas. The one giant I can't seem to tame is the African Rock Python. Bill

Tiger/super tiger retics usually seem to be very tame for some reason.

I dont think its always about the snake though a lot of it has to do with patience and willingness to tame it. I own a few boas and they are both mean as can be because I heard aggresive females are better breeders. I have a friend with a 13ft female green conda that is tame wont even strike from a feeding responce, unless hes holding a rabbit.

My suggestion is find something you like and work with it.

I already have my babies. I have a red tail and a ball. They are as sweet as sweet can be. Both are under a year. I also have a 10 foot red tail that I got from a rescue I volunteered at. I was just wondering what everyone thought were the biggest softies. hehe Tho I'm looking at getting a green anie in the near future, my mind is set on who my favs are. I just like to get other people's opinions. Get the chatter going and all that. Take care and thanks for everyones answers. :D
