Albino Gators Born in Brazil

toaster529 May 22, 2006 04:07 PM

I'm suprised we haven't heard more about this, unless the story is dated. I just happened to be checking the news page of my hometown and saw this. There is a video and slideshow too. FYI.
--------------------------------------------------------
MATO GROSSO, Brazil -- A zoo in Brazil has announced the birth of eight rare albino alligators.

The albino alligators were born almost a month ago at a zoo in southwest Brazil, along with with 17 normal-colored brothers and sisters.

Brazil's Pantal regions is home to an estimated 20 million alligators, but albino ones are extremely rare.

Most die in the wild because their color makes them vulnerable to attacks.

Scientists will study the albino babies in an effort to learn whether they can live alongside normal-colored alligators.

This seems to be a nice caiman clutch.
I know the huge albino C.yacare from Samutprakarn Crocodile Farm in Thailand, which are really amazing.
