Easiest Snakes to Breed

Cairbre May 22, 2006 04:45 PM

I was just curious, what is everyone's opinion about the easiest snakes to breed? I know they aren't exactly a walk in the park compared to breeding most animals (ie - they need incubators, can be cannibalistic and other complications most mammal breeders dont need to worry about), and I'm not going to start soon but I think I'll eventually consider breeding snakes. Thanks.

African House Snakes. Very standard husbandry in terms of care. Put a pair together--they LOVE to breed! Just an opinion. . .

Corn and other rat snakes, the pine/bull/gopher snake group, garter snakes and water snakes aren't particularly difficult. Boa constrictors and ball pythons are among the easiest of the boids.
