White spots???

mkco79 May 23, 2006 11:40 AM

I have noticed some white spots on our baby dragon. It almost looks like skin that did not come off on his last shed but that was weeks ago and from what i saw after he sheded it had all come off. He is a snow from JMarchon and I was wondering if anyone had any idea on what it could be!?

Thanks all!

Very hard to say without good photos. Could be unshed skin, could be the white powder from dusted crickets, could be mites or other external parasites, fungus, dust, dirt, etc.

We have seen some of our little ones come out of the egg with white scales clustered on their backs and tails. A reptile vet in Nashville check the little ones and gave them a clean bill of health. It is always good to get things checked! =)

We have kept those little ones showing this trait from the very beginning, but would not be surprised to hear of others developing the trait and are not sure what it means in the long run as these were a first generation offspring. I have watched our little ones carefully and after a couple of sheds have not seen the scales increase or decrease per se, but they are definitely there and definitely very white!
