First Spider clutch hatching!!!

wfreptiles May 23, 2006 01:42 PM

This is my first spider clutch. Looks to be 3 Spiders and 2 normals and one egg unknow. What a great way to start the day. First hatchling was a Spider. When I opened the egg box this morning he was just cruizing around checking things out. Then he decided to slither out of the box onto my hand and say "HI", then very relaxed he slithered back into the box.
Spider ball pythons are such cool snakes with great personalities!
Anyways here's some pictures.
Thanks for looking!

Hi Nancy- Thanks, I am very excited! My pastel clutch was the first to hatch this year, if you can believe it they are all boys, go figure. Sounds like we both are going to have a great season.
As far as what to do with the hatchlings... I just wipe mine gently with a damp soft cloth to remove any loose vermiculite. Then I place them in thir individual boxes with their water bowls and wait for them to shed.
Good luck with your Pastel clutch!

Hi Wyatt- The father of the clutch is from you. We named him Webster,(yes I know not real creative but the kids named him)Here's a couple pictures of Webster.

Thanks everyone!
Ok well, the last egg piped and it's a Spider. So we are 4 Spiders and 2 Normals. Not a bad ratio... I will update with pictures and sexes after they all are completely out of the eggs.
Good luck to everybody this season!

Congrats Becky.
Nice ratio with that last one pipping out as spider!

So are you going to keep that extra-social one? lol

btw
My pastel male had found the water when i was pairing him once this season...he drank from "her" water bowl for at least 15-20 seconds(while hanging upside down from my hands)before i was no longer amused, and decided to halt the fun and put him on in with her.

Thanks, yes we are keeping the "social" spider. The kids love the social ball pythons that love to be out checking everything out and interacting. They have already named him/her "cruizer" because of the way he likes to cruise around the egg box.
I love ball pythons with extra personality, big ol' goof balls, they are usually very intertaining.

Sorry "entertaining".
