Could someone please explain the differences between Candoia c. carinata and Candoia c. paulsoni to me? I can't help but think that they look the same except for their patterns.

I know there is an obvious size and behavioral difference. I have what I believed to be a baby C. c. carinata that I purchased a few months back. I was completely sure of it's taxonomy up until last night.

I won the raffle at my Herp Society's meeting last night, and one of the choices was a pair of Candoias, which I promptly bagged up. I could tell from their size that they were C. c. paulsoni. When I got home, I compared them all closely, and dang if that little one doesn't look like a "Mini-me" of the others!

I guess my question is: How can I tell if I have a Carinata or a baby Paulsoni??

I just looked in my OShea book to see if there is a lot of taxonomy listed. All he really says is that the carinata and paulsoni will intergrade on a couple of islands. So....other than the number of young usual I don't know how you would tell.
