I want to thank Marshall Meyers, the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of PIJAC, for getting involved with the fight in Louisiana against HB783. This ridiculous bill was introduced by one animal activist, Pinckney Wood, and is opposed by the LA SPCA, the Baton Rouge Animal Control, The General Curator of the Audubon Zoo, the Chairman of The Louisiana Reptile & Amphibian Task Force(a part of the Dept. of WLF)The Louisiana Gulf Coast Herpetological Society, the state herpetologist, all the pet shops, all the breeders and some of the most distinguished biologists in the country (Boundy, Crother, Pechmann, Liner, Moon to name a few) as well as a host of verterinarians. The deck is stacked against HB783 however, with state legislatures, sometimes they use a marked deck and don't listen to their constituents. Again, our gratitude for Pijac and all others who are helping us fight the good fight.
