taming savannahs......

I've had my sav for a mounth. he lets me "kinda" hold him. i hold him til he stops squirming then he hangs out on my shirt. he still hides alot. sometimes hes out but when i come in the room he runs into his cave. i never get to see him, unless hes chasing crickets i threw in. what is everyone elses expierence with their savannah monitors? did they hide from you for mounths? do the still hide from all the time? how can i build a connection with my sav besides handling?... maybe a bond around food??

and also. he poops in the same spot every time. its a spot where he cant be seen, its almost like he wants his privacy. does anyone elses monitor do this? do savannahs usually tend to pick one spot to go?
