Eggs, good or bad

bradh May 24, 2006 07:23 PM

My 75% DxJ just dropped 21 eggs on Sunday. She had pushed about 6 or 7 "bad" eggs away from the rest of the clutch and was spread out on the remaining. The "bad eggs" were yellowed, misshapen kind of like bullets. The remainder of the "good" eggs were nice and white but still with a fairly "oblong" shape to them. I have done everything "by the book" this year as far as heating, cooling etc. This is my 3rd clutch of 89% diamond or pure diamond in as many years and this female's 2nd clutch in 3 years. (1st was 30 eggs). I have built a incubator which maintains constant heat and humidity. Now, the eggs have all become yellowed, tan whatever you want to call it. But none of them resemble the "ping pong ball" look I see of most other eggs on this site. Im only a few days into this clutch and the familiar feeling I had of losing another clutch is creeping up on me. Am I jumping the gun here or what. Im getting nervous because my pure diamond female is due to drop mid July and it kills me to lose these eggs not knowing what I am doing wrong. My 2 diamonds and 1 cross are misted once daily, the females have spent most of their time sprawled across their heat mats. My temps are good everything is literally by the books like I said before. I have researched my research to make sure Im not missing something. Frustration has definately set in. Thanks for any help. Brad

Give them a bit more time. They will definitely start to look bad if infertile, and grow nasty things on them.
