This is my outdoor pen. Its 3 by 12 feet and made from 2by10s. Unfortunately I needed to put a top on it because the torts are small and need to keep out crows, racoons, and possums. The photo was taken a few weeks ago so what it doesn't show are 3 additional hostas that have come up. It has 4 feet of dirt with cypress mulch to burrow into and hostas for cover. 4 feet of grass and 4 feet of sand. A total of 3 hides (one out when picture taken) a basking paver which is also the feeding area and a flower pot base for water. Hope that gives you ideas. Tom

Raccoons can be very clever resourceful little guys.
I know of cases where they learned to open locking top garbage cans. I hope you have some sort of latch or lock or ??? on your pen.
It looks good tho.

two latches with spring closures. I have used them on our shed for the garbage cans and the racoons haven't beaten them yet. Even my wife has trouble openning them. Tom

Sounds good Tom.
I just don't trust those racoons after they broke into my bearded lizard cage outside. They slide a latch to open the door. They promptly ripped off the top of head of my largest male.

The large pen houses 3 Hermanns & an Egyptian. I plan on adding a top but haven't gotten around to that yet so I keep the gate closed so dogs can't get after them.

This is the new pen for the Russians, a mean 5 year old male & a hatchling. The walls are made of Alumacor (corregated plastic sandwiched between aluminum) & are about 18" high. It was once a SHIPPING & RECEIVING sign. The inside edges are lined with rocks so they can't dig out.

a more expensive, but nice looking pen i used for my russians roughly 15x5x3 with a removable divider.
