How Many Spotted?

rockagibraltar May 25, 2006 10:52 PM

I have been hunting snakes for many years. Hunting in Southwest Texas is a lot different then it is in Chicago. First off, in Chicago you hunt by foot, not by vehicle. When I first moved to Del Rio I used the same tactics I used in Chicago to find snakes. I quickly realized that if I wanted to continue to flip boards I could no longer do it by hand. As far as these gray-bands are concerned, I don't know how everyone does it. I have been out to the cuts again and again and still yet to see this highly sought after creature. Hopefully this will be my year.

It ain't no YANKEEILLE down here for sure. Hell, I thought the only kinda snake in Chicago was a snow snake. Come down to the real world and try your luck (again) with alterna. I have a question for you. Have you ever heard of "Hometown" Chicago????? I gotsta know!

Wayne...........ease up on the Yankee. If he puts in the time, he will figure it out. You better hope us Florida boys don't relocate down that way. We'd clean out every crack in every road cut. No substitute for seeing snakes in numbers.........Florida rules!

Hmm, would I rather see 50 yellow rats or one bairdi? 200 of those humongous butt ugly FL kings or one light phase grayband?
Quality over quantity every time.
I will admit that when going 3 days without seeing a snake of any kind, even a cottonmouth might be a welcome sight.

maybe YOU could pinpoint that on a map of Chicago for him........
