Crotaphopeltis hotamboeia, the Herald Snake. Feller just recently arrived from Africa and eats toads.

Those are neat little snakes. Here's something you may not know about them...the name comes from the South African newspaper, the Eastern Province Herald, which is reputed to have been the first to report its discovery many years ago. Also known as the red-lipped snake, their venom is probably of little consequence to humans, although a bite is liable to bleed freely. They'll take frogs as well as toads.

Great photo ... haven't seen one of those for years ... caught and kept many of them as a kid growing up in South Africa ...their bite is nothing ... good luck with him.
