I know I’m going to get yelled at for this, but I have kept a 04 JCP and a 04 Irian Jaya (opposite sex) in the same cage without incident. I know of 7 adult (varying sizes) carpets sharing a very large arboreal cage at a reptile shop in San Jose. I commonly see small carpets offered at reptile shops in large groups.

I know technically that it is a risk, but I believe if you put them in separate containers when they eat, and they are well fed, they should be fine. I have herd of snakes attacking each other because they smell food on the other.

If you have the room and the resources, I would separate them eventually. I have herd for breeding purposes, separation is important. Even though I have had no incidents, I have decided to separate mine.
