Here's something a bit new.........

Hi everyone! The new cage is about all set, the inside all completed. Anyways, Bella our blue adult female blue has become territorial with the other females we have. She and the other females would lay together and she and Tamika (B&W)especially were really close. We were keeping the girls (2 reds, B&W, and Blue)out until the new cage is complete. Bella has been chasing off the females and attempting to fend off "her place" I have not seen, nor heard of this occuring between females too often, only during breeding season and then this behavior is rare as well. This changes the new cage plans unfortunately........Bella is in with Rex now, instead of going in with Phoenix Blue and the 2 red females......oh well.....LOLOL

Just wanted to share this piece of info.

That's interesting, Greg. Mabye Bella wants that big new cage all to herself.

I always enjoy tegu behavior stories. Thanks for sharing!

Actually the 3 of the 4 females were free roaming for the most part in the lizard room and another room. They would sleep under a bed, under tables, etc. and had basking spots set up for them. Even with all this room Bella became quite territorial.
She and Tamika were inseparable, always laying together. There was a bunch of times she would see Tamika and run over to her like a long lost friend found, then follow her and lay on her under the basking light. Not now! LOL I am believing it is the blue's breeding PMS attitude kicking in. She is still a sweetie though!

That's too cute! I wonder if they'll still hang out like that as they get older.

My red girl likes to run over to my gold boy when she sees him, too. 'Course, she's twice as big and thinks he's a snack, even when her belly's full of mice. Now they free-roam separately, or together under strict supervision.

They're ok together in public, like the park, pet store, etc., harnessed and perched on different human shoulders. They check eachother out but aren't aggressive, and seem more interested in their new surroundings and tongue flicking all the people who want to pet 'em.

Greg, tell me why men always decide that any time a female does something looney it's always PMS?? Hee hee. Probably because that's usually the cause. Ask me why most of my pets are male!

Tell Bella I said "You GO girl!"

Brightest Blessings.

Oops, you were not suppose to read that!!!! LOLOL
So most of your critters are males huh? Hey, it's nice to have awareness, then we can be prepared to run and hide!

Enjoy your weekend Stephanie!
