cobrafan May 27, 2006 10:54 AM

Two baby Suphan cobras I have purchased within 5 yrs of each other have been nonfeeders for me to start out.I am wondering who has had similar bad experiences with these guys and what did you do to solve the problem...I am trying to avoid force feeding, thank you.
Drew.

Did you try scenting some baby mice? Try either chicken broth or tuna fish. Catfish may even work in some instances

i meant to say catfood

These beasties are just aweful to get started. Try scenting with fish..If no go then guess what you have to do...watch your fingers...Yikes!

Al-so would you suggest the tuna fish oil scenting thing? I have never force fed myself before so I am more than a little hesitant...Thanks,Drew.

I had a indo spitter that wouldnt eat, and a man who worked for Hot Herps told me to use the chicken broth or tuna oil. The Chicken worked for me. So try both, because its alot better than having to force feed

Yeah sure...try that and the chicken broth..who knows what will work for sure. I tried "commercially available frog legs for scenting with a Suphan. It didn't work be no harm in giving it a shot.

If you need to forcefeed give me an email directly and I'll tell you all I know about this fun job

Good luck!

Thanks to all who replied. I got my baby Suphan to feed on cut in half fuzzy mice tonight. It seems he just wanted some blood and guts to feast on...the important thing is that he ate. Thanks for all the wisdom and advice...Drew.
