In Loving Memory of Gala

anson May 19, 2003 08:00 PM

In Loving memory of Gala. You were my sweet shy little Girlie and I will miss you more than you will ever know. You fought hard to stay and you waited till I was away to pass. I will never forget you nor the joy you brought into my life.
Love, Sonia

Sonia,
What a sweet picture (her colors are like orange sherbert!) and sentiment...remember all the good moments. Someone sent me this poem when I lost a cat but it holds true for all our companion animals so I pass it to you and hope you find Solace in it.

Be sure to take in another cham when you are ready and remember...you can never truly lose someone you have held in your heart

The Rainbow Bridge

I have three other chams and all were mercy buys and have their own problems. Salvador (nosey be panther) Had a (supposed herp vet) damage his kidneys and liver with 4 shots of the wrong antibiotic given in the wrong place on his body. The last shot was given without my permission. He was just there for an exam to see why he had stopped eating. They took him in the back and brought him out totally black from the stress and bleeding from the vent. They had given him the shot in the hemipenes! The vet refused to come out and speak with me because he did not have the time. That was the last time I ever set foot in there. My new vet said to hydrate and force feed and hope for the best. That was almost two years ago and he is still hanging in there and eats on his own (after two months of force feeding). He still suffers from edema that comes and goes. He is my special boy but the swelling in his chest and around his eyes has gotten worse lately. I will love him for as long as he wants to stay and let him go when he is ready to leave.
Galileo (ambilobe Panther) was a mercy buy from a show and has never been able to shoot his tongue so has to eat from a bowl. He was mauled from a cage mate when I bought him over a year ago. I took him home with me for $75.00 and nursed him to health. He is now getting over an eye closure problem he had last month and I have been hand feeding him for over a month now. I am hoping for the best.
My third cham a female veiled (poor thing I have not even named her yet because I am afraid to get too close) I traded two baby geckos for her from a pet shop because they did not have the room for her and had her in a 20 gallon tank! They also thought she might be pregnant again. (they gave me the eggs from her first clutch last December because I have an incubator) I have had her for a month and she is HUGE but has not laid her eggs. She continues to eat and drink and bask like normal but you can see the outlines of eggs under her skin. She has not made any attempt to lay in the peat moss and sand mix tub I have provided. Not even test holes and no sign of digging. How long can she hold them and is this normal? I will post this as a question and maybe someone can give me some info. If she makes it I may even get brave and name her.
If you would like to see pics look in the photo gallery under chameleons. search with the username anson
I know I should stay away from shows and petshops.
Thanks again for understanding and for the poem. Gee I hope that bridge doesn't collapse under the weight when I try to pass.
