snow corn

mmh May 28, 2006 08:24 AM

Hi. I have a 9 month old snow corn. The breeder who sold her to me wants me to breed her and says she can be bred this year. Is this so? I don't want to overstress her or breed her too early. Also, Is it okay to feed her 2 mice a week? She fully digests the one and within 4 days wants another.
Thank you.

9 months old?
NO! that is too young to breed. This "breeder" is full of it if he says a 9 month old corn is old enough to breed
Is it eating adult mice at 9 months?
How big is your snake?
Length, diameter?

She's 34" long and at her fattest part (measured from the ground up) she's 3/4" "thick". She takes 5 to 7 week old mice. I'm a bit lax on her feeding schedule... after she deficates if she's hungry she crawls into her fake plant and waits to be fed. If she's not hungry she doesn't crawl into her plant. So I guess I have her conditioned to let me know when she wants fed but she has to deficate first. She just shed a week and a half ago so maybe that is why she's eating twice a week.

I didn't think this breeder was right. After some inquiry I've found out he doesn't even have any snakes right now so i'm not sure what he would even do with her if i did let him breed her......I don't want her shipped to god knows who. It's giving me a very uncomfortable feeling, this whole situation.

you dont have to wait until they poop to feed her(him?) just feed once a week and soon your snake will poop once a week too.

and i dont think your breeder is a breeder, probably just sells snakes. and why does he want to breed your snake? snows are pretty cheap and common he could get his own, are you sure its female? males could probably breed at that size.

I thought he was a breeder. He advertized snakes for sale and had about 20 corns when i went to buy her. He told me she was a female. He said he always sells with the condition that he has the option to breed. I saw no reason to disagree. I'm afraid to say that i'm new to snakes and figured he was being upfront with me. He gave me a care sheet and an info sheet on her and i filled out paperwork (i figured so that he knew who had his snakes, etc). Recently I found out he no longer has cornsnakes or any snakes to speak of so i'm not sure how he's going to breed her. He called me last week and told me she was probably ready to breed. I disagreed and got online and found this site and started asking questions.
