Baby Northern Pine Picture.

nodaksnakelover May 28, 2006 05:15 PM

As some of you know, this year was a BAD year for me as far as Northern Pines go. Three days ago only two of the remaining six eggs didn't have mold covering them and not totally sunk in. Well last night, lo and behold I spotted movement in the egg box! And this little one was found inside! The remaining egg looks hopeful and so maybe I'll have at least two baby Northern Pines this year. Way down from my usual 16 the last two years. Oh well, the adults are eating rats up a mile a minute. So maybe they are planning to make it up to me next year. But this one sure looks nice already! I've tried to pop it, and so far I'm calling it a female. Enjoy the pics!

Looks like some red coming in those blotches, she should be a real looker.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long the grasshopper stored up acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched tv. And then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus stole all his acorns, and he got a race car. Is any of this sinking in?

Great looking Northern, I agree with Jeremy, that neck pattern is so nice. That is why I always want Northerns from you, the patterns just blow me away every time. I am still watching around for a lone male that is super black and white contrasting in colors, no luck just yet but with all the ones you've hatched out I'm sure one will come around someday for sale.

Have a good one Russell, congrats on the 2 eggs, very sorry to hear about the rest of them.
