A new family member..

epidemic May 28, 2006 08:41 PM

I wanted to share, with all of you, a spectacular Dry I received on the 19th of May.
Just for fun, I will allow all of you, who are up to the challenge, to take a shot at just what member of the Dry clan it is. I will post a brief history and description of the featured Dry in a couple of days…

Good luck and enjoy!

Jeff

I'm taking a big leap and know I'm probably wrong -
Could it be D. caudomaculatus?

0.1 Creamsicle Cornsake "Yolanda"
1.0 Bairds Ratsnake "Steely Dan"

I was thinking that too.

I would agree, but based only on the process of elimination. Whatever, I hope he has a pair of them!

I now have 2.2 mottled D. m rubidus and am currently working on a project for the new male this Fall...

i was gonna say it was a 'reverse yt' but then i saw the eyelashes. it appears like the 3rd labial is hitting its postoculars. is it a crazy looking erebennus? pretty cool looking in any event.......

epidemic Jun 01, 2006 11:24 AM

Reverse YT is what I thought, when I first removed that guy from the bag.
I really must get better photos, as the coloration is more orange and red, than yellow or gold...

Best regards,

Jeff

Being new to the Dry comunity I haven't seen a great many animals but if I had to guess, maybe a Mottled Red Tail Cribo or if not that, I would guess a Margarite Island Cribo sense I haven't a clue what one of those looks like.

too mottled anteriorly for orizabensis, I think, but the supralabial pattern looks right. So maybe that Marguerita Island taxon ? Cool snake, Jeff.

Did you ever see him while he was on display?
He's an older guy, but I am very optimistic regarding his chances to produce a fertile clutch, or two, and I have alreday picked the female I am going to pair him with this fall.
More updates will be posted...

Best regards,

Jeff

Am I the only one that thinks this looks an awful lot like a pit of some kind ? Weird colors/pattern etc. Head looks pretty "pittish" I'm curious

It makes you wonder how close drys and pits are.
