She finally layed her eggs!!

IMAT May 28, 2006 08:44 PM

FinallY! She has layed her eggs! Here are a few pictures. This is the female flap neck chameleon that didn't lay the eggs. I have been looking at her spots, and am starting to wonder if she may be gravid too.

Here are the pictures of the eggs. I lightley marked the side up so I wouldn't accidently turn them. They look pretty good to me. I sure hope they are fertile. I can't believe all this happened to me soo fast! Tommorrow it will be exactly a week that I have owned the chameleons. Talk about luck! I believe there are 35 eggs!! Now here is my question......I know I need to check them about once a week or soo to make sure they have not colapsed or have mold on them. Am I allowed to open up the incubator and the container that they are in, or is there a specific way. Will I kill them if I open the incubator? Any advice would be helpful. thanks.

I am not sure I got the pictures on here. If not I will try again. Sorry...I am not exactly sure how to do it.

I check my chameleon eggs every week or two by removing the lid of the container that they are in after removing it from the incubator. i do it as quickly as possible so that I won't upset the humidity or the heat too much. I hardly ever have to add water doing it this way....but if I notice the eggs are denting in a little, I add the water around the edges and not on the eggs.

They look too wet.... And with those ventilation holes in the sides of the container, they'll be too dry in no time.

YAY! I am soo excited! Thank you soo much for all of your help. I greatly apreciate it! I can't wait until november now! lol....man it is so far away! I am thinking about purchasing some jacksons too and breeding them. But am not sure if I am getting into more than I can handle.

At the following site...it says "select species" near the top. Chose "dilepis" and click on "go". Click on the middle picture in this page...its a gravid female.

I think yours is gravid too, but I'm no flap expert as I have said before.

well, if she is gravid, she's way behind the other one. I can't see any indentations of the eggs....so who knows. I will be watching her closely for sure though because I am going to have to buy another incubator. We berally had enough room in the other one for the 35 eggs!
