Two baby balls. Question..

stlsnakelady May 28, 2006 09:48 PM

Hello,

Ok, I have a few questions.. so I thought Id come here for the answers.. being that everyone here is great and all

Ok, I have two baby balls, male and female.
Both are eating great.. and I mean great! Actually my male as had three hoppers in the last week.. and is already up to 100g, and is a baby.. Is this bad??
I mean he wants them!!
My female is going through her first shed, which is really nice.
Both are in the same little reptihome.
Now, I was going to pick up a very large display case.. the ones you see at stores, and turn that into a very nice home for these two.. considering they are never apart..
Is it possible for snakes to have true love as well? LOL
Anyway. anything special i need to know before doing so?
I was going to take one of the doors and screen it is, attach lighting, bed it al up and make it natural..
SO what would be the most natural habitat for them??

Ok, I think that is all my questions right now.. I may think of more.
OH OH OH!!!
When I was younger, we had a Boa. and well my dad built this outdoor amazement park looking this for them.
I mean, screen on all sides, wood bottom, protected from anything really "outside" covered top.. everything.. but made the inside look really natural. But also where they could get "real sun"
Is this ok to do?
I mean if it is secure, protected nad escape proof.. of course they would never be out alone.
He made his big enough he can walk in but small emough theyw ouldnt get lost.

Ok I think that is it.
Thanks.

Hey, here are a few ideas off the top of my head. There is no puppy love with them, they are always together because that is the ideal spot for them to be. There are several advantages to keeping them seperate; its much easier to keep track of who is shedding, pooping and so on. Plus, one snake might be getting stressed by another, in the wild they are solitary animals. That being said, I have kept 2 balls together with no problems in the past. The next thing I would say is to not have a screen cage. They could easily rub there nose raw on it. You could still get a big display cage and divide it in 2 and make it look nice. Thats all I have right now, Im sure others will have more to add. Good luck.

IMO I would house them seperatly. Snakes are solitary animals and only come together to mate. You may run into things like stress, feeding problems like if they both go after the same prey and one gets caught in the constriction then you will have to intervine to get the one out etc. Safer if there housed sepratly!
These are just my opinions tho!

Good luck!
