Yours could still be maturing and growing and chances are the colors will get better as it continues to grow.

You just got him, too - he's likely very stressed out. Some of my uros, when sick or under stress, dull down quite a lot. When under the right conditions - proper temps, lack of parasites, etc - they brighten up substantially. You might get a fecal check done to be sure there are no parasite issues and a vet visit to make sure he's otherwise healthy. He may brighten up. If not, he'll still make a great pet. One of my favorite uros is my least spectacular in appearance - just a dull brown.

Congratulations on getting your uro, but I have one question that I have to ask. If you are unhappy with the way it looks, why did you buy it if it "looks like crap" (your words, not mine). I'm not trying to be mean at all. I guess it just makes it a little harder to understand why the coloration is now an issue if it wasn't when it was purchased. From your description, it sounds like a beautiful animal. They are all unique, so I would simply enjoy it as is.

I thought that was what they were suppose to look like, then i see everyone else's and he just doesn't look as vibrant.Maybe i was sold a uro that is older than two years old. Also, the comment was "compared to everyone else's he looks like crap"and you know what?Im no uro expert so maybe there could possibly be something wrong with him health-wise.That was my concern.

I wouldn't be too concerned with coloration being an indication of health. A wide array of other things are good indicators (appetite, lethargy, fecal appearance, etc.) but I don't think coloration is indicative of health.

If it makes you feel any better, your uro probably doesn't think that you're the hottest thing on the block. But of course he didn't get the choice to pick you... you picked him. If you were after a certain color pattern you should have done more research. There is a chance that his color will improve with proper husbandry...

I won't even justify your comment with a response that a normal person would be entitled to.

I'm sure he's beautiful as long as he's eating well and is healthy, I certainly would not worry about color.

I have an egyptian female who is a dollbaby I love her, but egyptians are not very colorful , hehehehee !

Some color up when older, but if not, just love em post a pic, bet we will all LOVE your guy!

My first Uro was black with yellow markings too. He actually eventually turned all black as he got older! When I got him I had no idea all the different color variations either (now I know I should have done more research, but I got him from a pet store with a roommate at the time). I think the vast majority of Uros ARE black and yellow, but because of the avid uro herpers on this forum it just seems like almost all Uros are rainbow colors. If you enjoy the pet and were just making sure you weren't doing something wrong because of the colors, welcome to the world of uros! It is a lovely place. If the look of your Uro is really a let down for you, you may be better off finding him a new home and either getting a more brightly colored one, or a different animal. Welcome to the forum though!!
