idealreptiles May 29, 2006 01:49 PM

Spiders have VERY white sides, and pieds have pure white bellies... os, it should be a sweet high white combo!
I never thought of that...
Well, I have stock in both, so I might just have to give it a try!
Very cool
Congrats!

idealreptiles May 29, 2006 01:56 PM

I couldn't be more happier with it.
But we all are entitled to our opinions.

RandyRemington May 29, 2006 02:58 PM

Very nice! Like others said it makes sense with 20/20 hind sight that it would be high white but I didn't see the synergy coming either. Any more eggs on the way to test if spider pieds will consistently be this extraordinarily white? Would be nice to see one compared to some of the other white snakes to see if the white is a notch brighter with the pied. I think the yellow head makes a nice freaky contrast. Hope it's a male and let us know how it does please.

joshhutto May 29, 2006 02:58 PM

now that's a better pic of the head and I love it. You know that is one of my favorite parts of a spider is its wacky head pattern and that snake looks like it captured it perfectly. congrats and I know we all can't wait for an after shed pic of it.

..maybe when the animal is homozygous pastel and pied it might be different?

Or how about if there ARE super spiders...but the animal must also be homozygous clown to show it as such.

hehe

NICE ANIMAL Steve!
We're all quite jealous now..thanks

Congrats Steve! That thing is incredible. I love when you get something new and it's even cooler than you expect. Looks like you're off to a great year, keep it up. Brian (BHB)

RandyRemington May 29, 2006 03:25 PM

It’s way to early to say for sure but with this one spider pied looking to be the highest white pied ever it might be that the spider gene promotes high white in pied and there may never be a 50/50 pied spider.

Got any pictures of the spider het pied (father?)? Are they consistently funky looking (even for a spider) like the one Graziani posted? I guess that should have been a clue that the sum would be greater than the parts in this combo. Maybe the closest you could get to a 50/50 would be an extreme spider het pied (I've seen a few normal het pied pics that could pass for very low white pieds).

I've got to admit that I was wrong to think that the pied combos would be disappointing because I didn't think you could improve on a regular pied. The pastel, lavender, and now spider are all knocking it up at least a notch.

What a great pic, love the dark 'peeking' eye. Can't wait to see a full body picture of this spider ball. Is the eye as black as it looks in the picture?
