Frank,

If you want to import animals from an exporter in another country, you have to licensed to import from USFW and there are alot of things to go through in order to import animals. i.e. inspections, paperwork, brokers, freight, freigth forwarding etc. etc. Even though the prices from most exporters look great they are but just a portion of the expenses that will be incurred form importation. Inspections fees alone range from $55-$115, plus freight is usually the most expensive part of importation. Most carriers run about $10 per kilo and have a minimum charge. Brokers fee usually run $150-$300 per shipment. Depending on what species CITES permits are needed for both export and import.
I tell anyone that wants to get into importation go right ahead. Most that get into it quickly learn it is best left to the other importers as it is not financially feasible for them and gets to be alot of work.
