few questions

I just rescued a baby red ear slider. The person i bought it from had it in a little tiny plastic container with some fish rocks, barely and water and no place to swim or bask. On top of all of that the water stank! So i put the baby in a ten gallon tank for now, bought a filter and a water heater. I made it a basking area with rocks and put a heat lamp over it. What wattage should my heat lamp be? and the water is 75 is that ok or does it need to be warmer? also, the filter kinda pulls on the baby when he swims by it, is that ok? He's already eaten and has been basking for awhile.

75 degrees is good for water temps. Make sure you check
the temp on the basking area. For a 10 gallon aquarium
a 25 watt bulb over the area should be sufficient. Don't forget
the very important UVB light like the Reptisun 5.0 I have
a 6 month old painted turtle with this set-up. As far
as the filter be very careful that it cannot suck the baby
against it and drown it. I choose not to use a water heater
or a filter for now because it is easy just to empty and
refill a few a times a week.

Good luck with your new turtle
Linda
