Who gets along with who???

crestygecko May 30, 2006 08:57 PM

hey all,

I have a trio of Leucs and I am now addicted to darts. I have a trio of Cintrella coming in this saturday and Azureus coming on saturday aswell. I wanted to know what darts are ok to share living space???? I heard some are very territorial and I heard that others are perfectly happy sharing a little piece of the rainforest together. What types go best with what types???? Thanks for the info

well most people are going to almost forbid mixing in any situation. i have read up on this subject and this is what i have found. remember this is what i have read not experienced! most reports say that the most success come from a cohabitation between either auratur/leucomales or azureus/tinctorius. you might think that since azureus is more of a ground dweller and your leucs are climbers it would be ok to mix, but i have never heard any thing positive about it. if you feel confident go for it but have a back up tank well and ready in case of bullying. that also could be hard to tell since this might be your first time with azureus and cintrellas as pets.

Another thing to remember when mixing is that certain species interbreed, causing mix froggies to be born. That is not look upon favorably in this hobby, as it is prefered to keep the blood lines pure. Tincs can easily breed with alot of dendrobates. Really, I recomend that you keep them seperate until you become familiar with all your frogs. Experience is really the key when it comes to mixing.
