Baby Daigh Da'Bug......hrmmmmm

reiko Jul 31, 2003 03:31 PM

Well its been a rough few days with Daigh, not sure what happened, he was eating tons! doing really well, growing fast, looking healthy, then one day (3 days ago) he stopped eating, then the next day his fat pads seemed to sink in slightly, his eyes looked a bit sunk in, he still had a lot of energy, would drink, was basking and ran about as usual, it was very strange, even flared what little beard he had stretched out yawned and bobbed a couple times. So i handfed him for 2 days, baby bird formula, chicken baby food and pedialyte as well as acidophilius. Now today, he looks normal, hasnt eaten yet but has taken interest, during the time he stopped eating i monitored his weight and he also gained 3 grams and half an inch, babies are so strange sometimes, they worry the heck out of me. I just dont get what was going on, i had a vet appointment set for this afternoon but we have now put it off for tomorrow as i dont want to put him through the trip there as he seems he is doing so well right now , if he turns back we will go tomorrow no matter what. Of course his set up is correct and he has a digital thermometer set up so his temps have always been constant and correct, all i can think is that maybe he ate soemthing bad, i just dont know. Anyhow he is feeling better and seemingly just about back to himself. He also has had a fecal done recently which was clear about 11 days ago, he is due for a second this week coming. Always something with these guys, everyone else in the house is fine, the other dragons, the birds etc, so i can rule out pesticided, chemicals etc in the air, the birds would be the first to feel that. hrmmmm

Yeah, like you said, it could've been something he ate. It's so hard to read these guys sometimes. You almost have to become an expert and watch them everyday to notice even the slightest changes in appearance or behavior. I hope he is feeling better and hopefully won't need that trip to the vet tomorrow.
