Want to buy a Rainbow Boa

miamixj Jul 31, 2003 03:39 PM

Hi Guys,

I want to buy one or maybe two rainbow boas. I am looking for above average specemins and although I am in Miami, FL mail order is OK. I like the deep red variety with little or no white bellies and pronounces markings. Any recomendations?

Thanks

Miamixj,
. You are in the one city in the country where you will probably never have to mail order any snake. There are more reptile breeders in the south half of Florida than anywhere else on earth. Find out when and where the Everglades Herp Society meets and attend a meeting. They used to meet in the Cox Science building at University of Miami on the second tuesday of the month. They may still meet there, I am not sure. People in the herp society can probably name five or six people who breed Brazilian Rainbows within 50 miles of you. Two of them that I know are really good are Tom Davis in Davie and Gary Walsh who is somewhere there in the Miami area. There are also lots of herp shows in Florida. The largest herp show on earth will be the middle of August in Daytona Beach. There will be several people selling BRBs at that show. There are other smaller shows all over the state. I think there are several in the Miami area each year. IMO it is better to buy and sell snakes in person rather than to have them shipped.
