What size tank

darkpeon May 31, 2006 04:20 AM

Im thinking about getting a baby irian jaya soon, and was wondering what size home I should be getting for it? I know the tank needs to be tall more than anything, but what dimensions are best? And can anyone recommend a specific brand of tank to get? Something not too expensive, as I know it wont be living in it for a long time..

i would think a simple 10 gallon would work for starters. i know alot of people start them out in those rubbermaid tubs. i dont' like that. for one i like to see my animals. i have a 7 foot jungle i got when he was like 3 foot and i just used the standard 20 gallon long. put in something for him to climb on. i've heard as long as arboreal species are off the ground they feel secure. it doesn' have to be that far off the ground. now he is in a big 80 gallon tank with 2 big branches that form an "X" and he loves it. when he is in shedding mode he will stay on ground in a box. he seems content in there. well, just my opinion as i'm no expert.
